Recent Project: Roller Shades, Cellular Shades, & Smart Drapes in Hayden, Idaho Home

We recently completed a beautiful window treatment installation at a Northwest Custom Home in Hayden, Idaho, combining sleek roller shades, cohesive cellular shades, and elegant smart drapes to complement this light-filled, modern home. The goal? Clean lines, functional privacy, and effortless light control—without sacrificing the open, airy feel of the space.

Here’s a closer look at how each product played a role.

Roller Shades: Clean, Contemporary Light Control in Hayden, Idaho

For the main living areas with expansive windows, we installed minimalist roller shades in a soft, linen textured fabric with a black fascia for a crisp, architectural finish.

These shades offer:

  • Convenient, streamlined automated operation

  • Excellent glare reduction & privacy

  • Preserved outdoor views by disappearing into black facia to match the windows

  • A modern look that pairs beautifully with black window frames

The homeowners wanted privacy without completely blocking the snowy North Idaho views—and these light-filtering rollers delivered the perfect balance. When lowered, they soften the light and protect interiors from UV rays. When raised, they disappear neatly into the headrail.

Cellular Shades: A Seamless, Custom-Fit Solution for Doors

On the wood-framed French doors, we installed cellular shades designed specifically to blend into the door. One of the standout features is the 7/8" custom wood frame, which can be color-matched to complement most door finishes. In this Hayden home, it coordinates effortlessly with the wood tone, making the shade feel like part of the original door design—not an add-on.

The slim 7/8" frame also creates a minimal footprint, allowing the shade to sit cleanly on the glass without bulky side tracks or heavy hardware. The result is a streamlined look that maintains the character of the door while adding functionality.

We also incorporated top-down, bottom-up control, giving the homeowner maximum flexibility. This allows natural light to enter from the top while maintaining privacy at eye level—perfect for entry doors where both light and discretion are important.

Combined with the insulating benefits of the cellular fabric, this solution delivers energy efficiency, versatility, and a tailored appearance that blends seamlessly into the architecture of the home.

For the window behind the soaking tub, we installed a motorized top-down/bottom-up cellular shade—the perfect balance of privacy, light control, and convenience. In a bathroom setting, especially behind a tub, privacy is essential—but so is natural light.

With top-down/bottom-up functionality, the homeowner can lower the shade from the top to let soft daylight in while keeping the lower portion covered for privacy. And because it’s motorized, adjustments are effortless—no reaching over the tub required. With the touch of a button, the shade moves smoothly and quietly into position.

The cellular construction also adds insulation, helping regulate temperature in the bathroom while maintaining a clean, tailored look that complements the home’s modern design.

Smart Drapes: A Modern Take on Vertical Privacy

For the large sliding glass doors, we installed smart drapes—an innovative alternative to traditional vertical blinds.

Smart drapes offer:

  • Sheer fabric vanes that softly filter light and tilt for privacy

  • Individual vanes that allow walk-through access

  • A uniform, ripple-fold appearance

  • Smooth operation with no chains or cords

These are perfect for high-traffic patio doors. The homeowner can easily walk through to the outdoor space without adjusting the entire treatment. When closed, the vanes create privacy while still allowing either natural light to glow through the fabric or room darkening depending on the application.

The Finished Look

The result is a cohesive design throughout the home:

  • Soft neutrals that enhance the architecture

  • Functional solutions tailored to each window type

  • Clean lines that maintain the home’s modern aesthetic

  • Practical light and privacy control for everyday living

This Hayden, Idaho project beautifully demonstrates how mixing roller shades, cellular shades, and smart drapes can create a seamless and highly functional window treatment plan.

If you’re building or updating a home in North Idaho and want window treatments that combine style, efficiency, and performance, we’d love to help you design the perfect solution for your space.
